Background

eoSemi was founded in 2005 by four experienced semiconductor professionals with initial funding by the founders using profits from high-value integrated circuit design consultancy services. The company has since developed with the support of venture capital funding.

eoSemi has a patent-pending solution for an all-silicon replacement for quartz crystal timing references. It uses standard CMOS process technology. This not only provides a solution to miniaturisation and cost, but also meets a requirement that quartz cannot – the ability to integrate with other silicon system devices.

The company is now poised to revolutionise this market by becoming the leading provider of miniature, silicon-only timing references and derivative products. Applications span industrial, medical and consumer microprocessor-based systems and the technology meets a specific need for miniaturisation and cost reduction in mobile handsets.

The company continues to develop a team of very experienced personnel across manufacturing and commercial disciplines. In June 2010, eoSemi closed a £3 million Series-A equity round in order to develop and commercialise its first product.

eoSemi operates a fabless business model and is initially targeting its technology at high volume consumer products.
